Radiofrequency Ablation

Our office uses the Venefit™ treatment system to treat larger, symptomatic varicose veins.  Dr. Waterford first numbs the skin and vein to be treated.  He then inserts a thin tube (catheter) into the enlarged vein and heats the tip using radiofrequency energy. The heat in the catheter causes the diseased vein to collapse and seal shut.  After the poorly-functioning vein is sealed shut, it stops feeding your enlarged varicose veins, and blood is naturally re-routed to other healthier veins so overall circulation is not affected. This procedure usually results in both symptom relief and cosmetic results.

The Venefit™ procedure allows for a quick office-based procedure with minimal downtime, comfortable recovery, and improvement of varicose vein symptoms. No more painful vein stripping!  Vein closure nowadays involves no hospitalization and no general anesthesia. The Venefit procedure results in little to no scarring and is performed in-office by Dr. Waterford using only local anesthesia.  There is less risk of post-operative blood clots, and less pain and bruising than with laser methods of vein closure used by other local providers.  The Venefit™ method is proven to be 93% successful!

If you are having symptoms related to your varicose veins, it is likely that your insurance will cover your diagnosis and treatment.

Most patients treated for varicose veins walk out of the office and return to normal daily activities, including work, within one to two days. Most patients require only Tylenol or Ibuprofen for any post-surgical discomfort. Detailed written and verbal instructions will be provided to each patient both before and after treatment.

The Venefit™ procedure is performed as a medical necessity to treat varicose veins as diagnosed by a trained vein specialist. For more information, visit: www.venefitprocedure.com
