Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Dr. Waterford can also actually completely REMOVE bulging varicose veins through a series of tiny skin punctures, along WITH a vein closure or as a stand-alone procedure. This is known as PHLEBECTOMY. Only the parts of your leg that are being treated need to be numbed in this outpatient procedure. Scarring is generally minimal, and the cosmetic results can be striking! Removing these veins won’t adversely affect circulation in your leg because veins deeper in the leg still take care of proper blood flow.
Dr. Waterford is one of the few providers in Hawaii that offer this procedure as an option for large, bulging varicose veins that may not resolve with vein closure alone. If medically indicated, it is likely that your insurance will cover phlebectomy as part of your treatment.
