Treatments

Your active lifestyle depends on the health of your heart and vessels.

To assess varicose veins or other heart or blood vessel concerns, we always perform a complete cardiac and vascular history, and conduct a focused physical exam. The staff will also ask you to describe your personal medical history, family history, and any symptoms related to your legs. Be assured that your care and personal story are never rushed, and your results are always reviewed by Dr. Waterford personally.

As Dr. Waterford is a fully trained as a cardiac and vascular surgeon, your appointment may also address other heart or vascular concerns raised by your exam, history, age, or health habits. This ability to screen for other more serious health concerns is yet another aspect of care that sets our office apart from many other providers you might see for “just” varicose veins.

Varicose veins may slow you down, while spider veins can keep hiding in your legs.

Don’t trust the treatment of your veins to just any doctor. Dr. Randolph (“Randy”) Waterford at Waterford Vein Institute of Hawaii will get you back into the clothes you love – and the lifestyle you deserve. There’s never been a better time to treat your varicose veins.

Sometimes, all your legs need is some TLC and self-care to relieve symptoms. This includes exercising, losing weight, not wearing tight clothes, elevating your legs, and avoiding long periods of standing or sitting – all of which can ease leg pain and prevent varicose veins from getting worse.

Wearing compression stockings all day is often the first approach to try before moving on to surgical treatments of varicose veins. These stockings steadily squeeze your legs, helping veins and leg muscles move blood more efficiently. For some people, this is all they need to relieve their symptoms of varicose veins. We also refer to this step in your treatment as “conservative measures’ – it is often required to try stockings prior to insurance granting approval for a vein closure procedure.

If you don’t respond completely to self-care or compression stockings, or if your condition is more severe, Dr. Waterford offers a variety of treatment options to perfectly tailor your varicose vein treatment:

Radiofrequency Ablation Vein Closure

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Injection Sclerotherapy
